The Town is currently recruiting a key member of our Planning and Infrastructure team for the position of Development Supervisor.  Under the supervision of the Manager of Planning and Development, the Development Supervisor is responsible for the administration, monitoring, and enforcement of the Land Use Bylaw and overall land development process, while supervising Development Officers and administrative staff within the Planning and Development unit. This role processes subdivision applications and endorsement packages; coordinates development charges and agreements; reviews, approves, and enforces development permits; provides oversight of safety codes permits; and processes development related planning bylaws.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a post-secondary degree in Land Use Planning, or Applied Land Use Planning certification, combined with a minimum of 5 years experience in land use planning and/or development, preferably in an urban municipal setting.  Experience in Engineering is considered an asset, as is supervisory experience. Due to the nature of this position, a high degree of integrity and professionalism is required, as well as the ability to foster positive relationships with members of the public, Council, contractors, developers, government agencies, and staff.  A strong working knowledge of the land development industry and processes, including federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, policies, and processes is essential.  The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with specialized software including electronic filing, permitting, and financial systems. Experience using ArcGIS is considered an asset.

Based on a 35-hour work week, the salary range for this position is $82,033 - $104,368 per annum. Starting salary will be determined within this range based on suitable qualifications and experience. This position will involve some flexibility in working hours to accommodate evening and weekend meetings as required.
