CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

If so, The Town of Stony Plain wants to hear from you! We are currently accepting applications for a Corporate Communications Intern within the Office of the CAO. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Communications Officer, the Corporate Communications Intern will be responsible for assisting and supporting the development and execution of external communications and marketing strategies for the Town of Stony Plain. As part of the Corporate Communications team, this position will either be assisting and supporting or creating and executing effective communications through communication and marketing plans, social media management, writing and editing of promotional pieces, developing and planning communications around public engagement, supporting with media relations, and attend events (evenings and weekends) to produce live on the spot social media. The Intern will also support the rest of the OCAO department with event support such as set up and tear down along with administrative tasks. This position contributes to the entire organization’s corporate culture with support to the Community Club and performing other related functions.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a recent graduate or currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and working towards a degree or diploma in, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or Marketing. Related experience, preferably in a municipal setting, would be considered an asset. General knowledge of communications and marketing strategies is required. A good working knowledge of websites, social media marketing, including scheduling software, analytics assessment, and paid promotion combined with well-developed oral and written communication skills will help ensure your success in this role.
The hourly wage for this position is $22.00 - $25.00 per hour. The current work week is based on 35 hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; however this position would require a number of evenings and weekend hours. This is a seasonal position with an expected term of May 6, 2024 – August 30, 2024.
