Bylaw Enforcement Officer

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Enforcement field?  The Town of Stony Plain has a temporary full-time position available for a Bylaw Enforcement Officer in the Community and Protective Services Department. Reporting to the Peace Officer Supervisor, this position will investigate complaints and conduct vehicle, bike, and foot patrols to ensure compliance with Town Bylaws.  The Bylaw Enforcement Officer will liaise with and assist Community Peace Officers and other external agencies with found property, public education, and public safety.   

The ideal candidate for this position will be currently studying or will have recently completed a post-secondary program such as Police and Investigations, Police Studies, Criminology, or similar field.    Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills, strong customer service skills, and be highly competent in exercising the use of discretion, tact and diplomacy in dealing with public complaints and inquiries.  Your working knowledge of Municipal Bylaws will help to ensure your success in this role.  Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. 

The wage range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour. Working hours are based on a 35-hour work week, the successful candidate must be willing to work a rotational schedule comprising of days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. The anticipated term for this position will be May 13, 2024, until August 30, 2024. As a condition of employment, a Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract will be required.
