The Town of Stony Plain Planning and Infrastructure department is currently recruiting for a permanent part-time Labourer for the Recycling Centre. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Utilities and Environment, this position is responsible for maintenance of the recycling depot, landscaping, greeting, educating and assisting residents with sorting of recyclable goods, and ensuring recycling bins are free of contaminated items.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service orientated environment. The physical ability to use hand tools, lift heavy objects (over 12lbs), work in awkward positions, stand and walk throughout the day, and work in inclement weather is required along with the ability to operate a skid steer and/or rubber tire backhoe. The successful candidate will also have a Class 5 Alberta Drivers License. Understanding of recycling systems is an asset.

In accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955 Collective Agreement, this position will work a 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks) and offers an hourly wage rate of $20.71. The bi-weekly schedule will alternate days, including weekends. The Town offers an exceptional benefits package including the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
