COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

We are currently hiring for two (2) full-time Community Development Officers. Reporting to the General Manager of Community and Social Development, these positions will work in collaboration with community groups, organizations, and individuals to support positive action for community development, make evidence-based recommendations and decisions, act in an entrepreneurial way to create opportunities, and seek continuous improvement through the development, implementation, and evaluation of project plans. Concentrating on Youth Engagement, the Community Development Officers will focus on connecting community and providing preventive services and supports to address and reduce the root causes of violence within the community and/or will support the assessment and analysis of youth services and engagement practices to increase the overall well-being and safety of youth.
The ideal candidates will have an undergraduate degree in social work, human services, education, health services, or related program. A graduate level degree in a similar field is considered an asset. A minimum of 3 – 5 years prior work experience with a community development focus, as well as experience working with youth and/or vulnerable and marginalized populations is required.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral communication skills are required, and successful applicants will be highly competent in exercising the use of discretion, tact, and professionalism in dealing with community partners, members of the public, and community organizations. This position requires solid facilitation and project planning experience. Experience working with community partners in the Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County region is considered an asset.
Based on a 35-hour work week, this posting will fill one (1) permanent position and one (1) temporary position with an expected end date of March 31, 2026. Please specify in your cover letter which of the two positions you are interested in. The annual salary range is $79,792 - $101,519 per annum.
